Board of Assessors approves motor vehicle excise tax commitment and state reimbursement.

LEICESTER — The Leicester Board of Assessors signed the second motor vehicle excise tax commitment of $191,795.44 and approved a state reimbursement totaling $92,557.28 for exemptions granted in FY26. Chair Arthur Paquette and Member Robert W. Mercer, with Principal Assessor Kelli Robbins, also reviewed and executed two Chapter 61 lien certificates for properties on Burncoat Lane and Marshall Street.

Total personal exemptions for fiscal 2026 stand at $138,565.67. Two substantive agenda items, the Senior/Veteran Work-Off Program and Hardship Clause 18 criteria, were deferred to the May 12 meeting.
