LEICESTER — Eight-town health coalition considers pooled opioid settlement approach. The Leicester Regional Public Health Coalition discussed a proposed amendment allowing member municipalities to voluntarily pool opioid settlement abatement funds, with Leicester as host. Attorney Richard Mucci of the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards explained pooling would improve access to state matching grants such as RISE and Mosaic.

The coalition also discussed a regional flu vaccination program for seniors, with Sanofi quoting $1,000 per 100 vaccine doses. Members proposed pooled funding of $1,500 to $2,000 for initial vaccine purchases. Regional Health Director Mishel Caisapanta outlined FY27 planning, including potential use of opioid funds to support positions losing COVID grant funding.
