Historical Commission seeks Swan Tavern support from historical society.

Historical Commission · Meeting of January 14, 2026

Leicester Historical Commission presses historical society on Swan Tavern support. At the January 14 meeting, Commission Chair J. Donald Lennerton Jr. and members told Leicester Historical Society President Diane Calvano that the society must either contribute to the tavern's $4,500 to $5,000 annual operating costs or vacate its three rooms of office and storage space and lose unescorted access.

The society, which has occupied the space since 2019, has provided minimal monetary and volunteer support despite sponsoring events there in the past. Director Kurt Parliament said the society must decide whether to increase engagement or withdraw entirely. The commission will revisit expectations at its next meeting on January 28.
