Planning Board approves fence business site plan; continues two major hearings.

Planning Board · Meeting of May 19, 2026

Leicester Planning Board approves fence business site plan, defers major developments. The board unanimously approved a Site Plan Review for Universal Fences at 1548 Main Street, conditioned on confirmation that the site can accommodate 53-foot tractor-trailers. Two larger hearings were continued to June 16: a 9-unit multifamily conversion at 981 Main Street and a 290-unit mixed-use project at 1430 Main Street that traffic consultant Dan Dumais estimated would generate 245 to 338 net new peak-hour trips and $1.3 million in potential tax revenue once built out.

Abutters at the 1430 Main Street hearing raised concerns about water and sewer capacity and stormwater runoff; the applicant acknowledged the commercial component's stormwater plan still requires completion.
